As expected, Larry Johnson goes unclaimed on waivers.

No team claimed LJ today on the waiver wire.  So what the means, is A) The Chiefs are responsible for the remainder of his $2M contract and B) That he is now a free agent.

We will see in the following days if any time is going to take a risk on him, but it seems like the Texans are the team that has shown the most interest.
The 3:00pm NFL waiver deadline has come and gone and still no word on if any team has picked up Larry Johnson.  Many teams seem to be interested, and we should know something for sure within the next couple of hours.

NFL Power Rankings - Week 10

[+] Add Widget
ESPN.com

Week 10 will feature two blockbuster games showcasing teams ranked among the top six in ESPN.com's latest NFL Power Rankings.
The Indianapolis Colts, ranked No. 2 again, will aim to defend their turf against the resurgent No. 6 New England Patriots. Since the start of the 1999 season, they have been the NFL's winningest teams: The Colts own a 122-46 regular-season record since then, while the Patriots' mark is 116-52. Who wins Sunday? Vote here.
In an AFC North duel for the division lead, the No. 4 Cincinnati Bengals will visit the No. 5 Pittsburgh Steelers in a rematch of a Week 3 matchup that the host Bengals won 23-20. The Steelers vaulted two spots by knocking off the Denver Broncos, who fell from No. 4 to No. 7 this week.
For the second consecutive week, the New Orleans Saints ranked No. 1 according to the weekly poll of our experts. The Saints -- who, like the Colts, have an 8-0 record -- will try to keep their mark unblemished as they visit the 30th-ranked St. Louis Rams.
Behind the Saints and Colts sit the No. 3 Minnesota Vikings, who after a bye week will entertain the No. 29 Detroit Lions.
The Power Rankings' cellar has a new occupant. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers escaped it thanks to an upset of the Green Bay Packers. Now the Cleveland Browns, who were idle in Week 9, occupy the 32nd position.

Chiefs release RB Larry Johnson

All I can say....Its about time!

Makes me wonder if the petition going around was a factor in his release.

Per KCChiefs.com:
There are a number of routes that the Chiefs could have taken today involving embattled RB Larry Johnson today. A few of these decisions could have drawn on for weeks. Instead, the Chiefs decided to make a clean cut with Johnson. Johnson will now go to the waiver wire where any team can claim him and assume his current contract. If he clears waivers, Johnson will become a free agent.

My guess is that LJ will clear waivers and become a free agent, I don't see many teams willing to take a chance on a RB that is closing in on 30, is averaging a little over 2 yards per carry and has had all of the off field issues that he has.  Not to mention, they are going to have to claim that over-inflated salary that King Carl gave him.

Inactives - Bobby Wade inactive Sunday vs. Jaguars

From Josh Looney at KCChiefs.com.  The big surprise today is Bobby Wade.  It appears that he is been placed inactive due to the Chiefs adding Chris Chambers to the active roster and the addition of Lance Long (likely a special teams move).

11/5 Chiefs Injury Report

The Kansas City Chiefs currently have five players on the injury report while the Jacksonville Jaguars have four.  This is a little surprising because, through eight weeks, the Chiefs have usually been the healthier team in any matchup.
There were no changes to the Chiefs injury report except for the addition of Mike Goff.
Did Not Participate
S Jon McGraw (leg) - Still no updates but he hasn't practiced in nearly two weeks.
CB Mike Richardson (illness) - Unknown illness.  This is the second day in a row he's been gone.
Limited Participation
C Rudy Niswanger (knee) - He practiced again today which is a good sign. Coming back from a MCL injury in two weeks would be impressive (Cassel took three).
G Mike Goff (shoulder) - No clue what this is.  Goff's a veteran so this could be precautionary.
Full Participation
T Branden Albert (ankle) - He appears ready to play.

The Chiefs currently have 60% of their starting offensive line on the injury report.

Petition tops 20,000

A petition circulating to keep Chiefs RB Larry Johnson from breaking Priest Holmes record, for Chiefs All Time Rushing Yards, has now topped 23,000 signatures (and counting).

If you have interest in signing it, go here:
http://www.petitiononline.com/StopLJ/petition.html

I personally signed the petition and believe we should leave the player off of the field.  He has never wanted to be in Kansas City and has made that very obvious and very public.

It would be unrealistic to say I don't ever want Priest record to be broken, but I don't want it broken for a while.
